Soğuksu Bay is a bay located in the Fethiye district of Muğla that fascinates its visitors with its unique nature. It takes its name from the fact that the sea water temperature is quite low compared to the surrounding bays.

Why Is Soğuksu Bay So Special?
  • Coldness of the Water: The underground waters filtering from Kayaköy mix with the sea from the rocks near the shore, reducing the temperature of the water by about 10 degrees. This provides an ideal environment for those who want to cool off, especially on hot summer days.

  • Tranquility: Transportation to the bay is by boat, providing a peaceful holiday experience away from the crowds.

Important Notes
  • Carry Sunscreen with You: Don't be fooled by the cold water, the sun's effects can be quite strong.
  • Bring Your Water Sports Equipment: Don't forget to bring your equipment such as snorkels and fins with you.
  • Carry Your Waste With You: Carry your waste with you to protect nature and leave it for future generations.

When you reach the bay from land, the business you come across has a parking lot.
It opens at 9:30. Parking fee is 300 TL all day, or 150 TL if you arrive after 13:00.
The business sells alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages all day long.
There is no daytime food service at the establishment.
Prices are for 2025.

Fethiye boasts many unique and pristine bays. One of these is Soğuk Su Bay. Access by land is difficult and challenging. You can reach it after passing Kaya Village and navigating difficult terrain. I recommend renting a private boat to explore the many bays and swim in their pristine waters. You can actually feel the cold water rushing from below.

It's possible to reach the bay by road. The road is a bit bumpy, but if you're experienced on such roads, you shouldn't have any problems. Having driven on similar roads before, I found the route to be within my expectations. However, if you're inexperienced and sensitive to your vehicle, I wouldn't recommend it; the road narrows in some sections, and you might panic if an oncoming vehicle approaches. My suggestion is to wait in a wide area if you see a vehicle in the distance and let the other side pass.

As you descend the final ramp, you'll see an old, ruined building. Here, the road splits in two:

Right side: Leads to the restaurant. However, the restaurant isn't always open and is quite quiet, not very business-like. When it's open, it's easier to leave your car in the parking lot here and walk down to the bay through the restaurant. Of course, there's a fee for this.

Continue straight: You can park your car about 50 meters ahead and descend to the bay via the rough path called "Greek Road." This path is a bit long and challenging.

My advice for those driving: Stop in the large area where the building I mentioned is located and check if the restaurant is open first. If not, it's more logical to maneuver there and then backtrack toward the trail. Exiting from the trailhead can be difficult due to parked vehicles.

I checked both options, even leaving my car at the start of the "Rum Road" path before changing my mind and deciding to go down via the business. I parked my car and easily reached the bay. In July 2025, the fee was 300 TL. Some people paid 150 TL in the afternoon.

About the Bay:
The water was quite clear. Large tour boats don't dock in the bay; they stay a bit offshore. Small boats, private boats, and dinghies usually come to the bay. It has a small beach. It was calm when I went, so I was pleased. The sea was clean, and the people on the beach were quite well-mannered.

The bay is beautiful, and we arrived at the boats' return time, which coincided with 4:00 PM, and the water was seriously cold for swimming. It went well, especially after sweating from stress on the road I posted the videos of. Those who love their cars shouldn't try this road; an SUV is more secure, especially in terms of undercarriage. My Passat skidded on one of the sharp turns. I also think you should drive at 10 km/h; the stones could pop a tire; they were very sharp and large. At the end of the road was a parking lot, for which we paid 150₺ in the afternoon. There was a restroom there, but no shower cabin. The restroom wasn't clean. In fact, because the women's restroom was broken, everyone had to use the men's restroom. I hope they don't dump their money into the sea. After the parking lot, it's a 2-minute walk along the path. I think you should wear non-slip water shoes, as the sea is rocky and stings your feet. Non-slip water shoes were effective for the path, but wearing slippers is very difficult. The biggest downside is the 4 km of rough road and the lack of water for showers.

The bay's water was truly crystal clear, and swimming was delightful. However, getting there is a bit of a challenge. The road is completely dirt, and as other reviews have noted, you really have to drive at 10 km/h. We arrived in the afternoon and assumed the business was closed because the gate was padlocked. You had to honk your horn. Parking is paid, and the road from the restaurant to the sea is a bit challenging, especially if you're carrying luggage.

The sea temperature varies from place to place, but if you prefer cool water, be sure to venture out a bit and swim in the "cold water" side of the pool mentioned above. There's occasional boat traffic, but it doesn't affect swimming much.

If you are thinking of coming, I would suggest you come prepared.
