Why Should You Go?

El Murciélago is an area of Manta known for its beautiful beaches. It's an ideal spot for sunbathing, swimming, surfing, or simply enjoying the ocean. It also offers the opportunity to dine on fresh seafood at the area's restaurants and enjoy the vibrant nightlife. Its natural beauty and relaxing atmosphere make it the perfect holiday experience.

How to Get There?

You can reach Manta by air or road. Manta Eloy Alfaro International Airport (MEC) is near the city center. From the airport, you can reach El Murciélago by taxi or bus. If you're coming from another city, bus companies offer regular services to Manta. El Murciélago beach is easy to reach because it's close to the city center.

Why Should It Be Preferred?

El Murciélago can be quieter and less crowded than other beaches (especially during the off-season). Due to its proximity to Manta's city center, accommodation and food options are varied and affordable. It also offers surfing-friendly waves and a variety of water sports.

When to Go?

The climate in Ecuador is hot and humid year-round. The best time to visit is during the dry season, June to November, when rainfall is less. However, this period is also the most crowded. For a quieter holiday, consider the shoulder seasons (April-May and December-March).

The beach I went to when I was a kid and came back a few years ago was clean and beautiful, when I went back a week ago after 6 years I was totally disappointed to see how people had polluted the beach with garbage, beer cans, bags, cups etc.

The beach is beautiful, and the water is very warm in early August. The sand is unusually dark and shiny. Some days it gets quite windy, and the tides are high, so be careful. I couldn't find a single changing room. Overall, we had a great swim.

It's a beautiful beach. If it's very crowded, consider bringing essential supplies and keeping some cash for activities like banana boats or whale watching. You'll find restaurants nearby serving snacks (popular dishes here) and meals ranging from $8 to $20 per person. There are umbrellas available for two dollars each. During peak tourist season, the water and beach are often dirty.
