The Story of Your Name

The name of the bay comes from the Italian landing here during the War of Independence. It is also known as "Castle Bay" by the locals because of a castle located in the bay.

Why is Italian Bay Preferred?
  • Natural Beauties: It offers a peaceful atmosphere to its visitors with its crystal clear sea, golden sands and lush green nature.
  • Camping Facilities: The availability of free camping areas is ideal for those who want to have a holiday surrounded by nature.
  • Historical Texture: The historical castle in the bay indicates the rich history of the region.
  • Tranquility: It is a perfect option for those looking for a peaceful holiday away from the crowds.
Where and How to Get There?
  • Location: It is approximately 146 km from Edirne city center and approximately 35 km from Keşan town center.
  • Transportation: You can easily reach it with your private vehicle. There is no direct access by public transportation.
Things to Consider
  • Being Environmentally Aware: In order to protect natural beauty, you should be careful not to throw your garbage on the ground.
  • Camping Rules: While camping, the rules must be followed in order not to harm the environment.
  • Safety: It is important to be careful, especially while swimming, and to obey the warnings of lifeguards.
Latest Status and Changes

In recent years, Italian Bay has undergone some changes. The free camping area has now become a paid area and some services have begun to be provided. This has increased the popularity of the bay but has also had some negative effects.

In summary, Italian Bay is one of the favorite places in Edirne with its natural beauty, historical texture and camping opportunities. However, it would be useful to get up-to-date information about the latest situation before going there.

The entrance fee is still 400 TL, even with a caravan. It wasn't charged per person; it was added to the vehicle. The road is bad, but there's another entrance from the back; that road is smoother. (It's coming from Mecidiye, so it's less known.) The sea level rises quickly, so it might not be suitable for children. Barbecuing and other activities are allowed inside. There are toilets and showers inside. The village headman's office maintains the area. It's cleaned daily, but don't expect it to be very hygienic. There are shaded areas, but if you get there early, they'll be taken away, so bring your umbrella. The view, water, and sand are wonderful. It's also quite suitable for tent camping. Bring your own equipment; there's nowhere nearby.

It's a beautiful bay, but access is a disaster. The village headman collects a daily entrance fee of 400 TL at the entrance. The visitor profile is a complete mess, fueled by social media. I recommend giving it a try.

Italian Bay is a very beautiful bay with a clean sea where you can camp and swim.

There's a staff member waiting at the door when you enter. A fee of 400₺ per vehicle is required.

There are about 45 shaded areas on the beach, where you can camp or sit.

Toilet and shower areas are available.
There are garbage containers where you can throw your garbage.

You can drive your vehicle to a bare section of the beach.

There is no market food court inside.
The nearest center is a 10-15 minute drive away.

The shoreline at Erikli Beach was cloudy due to the waves, so we left and came here. The water here was crystal clear. It truly looks stunning.

The beach is also very beautiful. It's perfect for pitching a tent. The view in the early morning hours is also magnificent.

It has its negative aspects, but somehow they are ignored.

Entry fee for 2025 is 400 TL per day and 800 TL per night.

The toilet and bathroom service is poor, the hygiene is beyond reproach. It was bad last year too. There has been no improvement.

The sunshades are inadequate and worn out. You should definitely bring your own umbrella.

The parking lot is large, and you can at least find a parking space, but it's not organized. There are no signs, directions, or anything like that.

The beach is generally clean, but the trash people leave behind is noticeable (cigarette butts, bottle caps, etc.). This part is entirely about visitors.

As a result, at most 10% of the entrance fee is likely to be converted into service. Where the rest goes is anyone's guess.

The toilets and showers are filthy, you can't even get in. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because we were forced to stay here because the campsites were limited, but the toilets and showers shouldn't be this dirty.
For your information, alcohol is allowed and there are serious consumers.
The sea is beautiful, a mix of sand and rocks. It gets deeper gradually. It's crystal clear. There are huge fish, and if you wait still, they bite.
You should definitely visit the Mecidiye Castle, it is in ruins and in disuse, but the view is magnificent and there are isolated coves for two tents in the distance.
Finding shade is very difficult during the day.
There are groups of men screaming like animals at night. Would you say the group that plays doctor-vampire games until 3 a.m. like no one else is around, or the ones who have fun while drinking three beers and screaming from 2 meters away?
Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do about these people, but a solution for the restrooms and bathrooms needs to be found urgently. You're betraying such a cove. Get 800-1000 TL per vehicle, hire a competent team to renovate and clean those restrooms. Please consider this.
