Places to Swim in Fındıklı
Located at the westernmost tip of Rize, Fındıklı offers a peaceful Black Sea experience with its unique natural landscape and shores where green meets blue. Fındıklı offers municipally maintained areas for those who want to swim, as well as quieter, more natural coastlines.
Fındıklı Municipality Public Beach
Located in the town center, this beach is a favorite spot for locals and visitors alike during the summer months. It's regularly cleaned, and its central location makes it easy to access. The beach's surface is pebbled, typical of the Black Sea coast. While ideal for families, it can be crowded, especially on weekends. There are kiosks and other facilities around the beach to meet your basic needs.
Yeniköy and Quiet Bays
For those looking to escape the city center's bustle, the coastline toward Yeniköy is a good alternative. While these areas don't have official beach status, they are quieter and less structured. The seawater is generally very clear, but it's recommended to bring personal items like an umbrella, food, and drinks with you when visiting these areas, as the number of facilities is limited. Natural cliffs and rocky areas predominate in this area.
Stream Mouths and Natural Cooling Spots
The areas where Viçe Creek, one of Fındıklı's greatest natural treasures, meets the Black Sea offer both a visual feast and a popular spot for cooling off. In areas where the stream flows into the sea, the water temperature can drop suddenly, creating a refreshing effect. However, due to the risk of currents in these areas, it's important to swim only in safe, well-known areas close to shore. These spots are also popular for photography.
Swimming Warning
Black Sea beaches are prone to rapid deepening. Swimming in areas where there are no lifeguards is risky. Furthermore, because the ground is predominantly pebble, wearing water shoes will increase your comfort.
