Erdek Beach Guide

Erdek's coastline boasts a variety of beaches, generally consisting of fine sand and, in some areas, pebbles. This region, where you can dive into the cool waters of the Marmara Sea, offers a variety of options for both families and young vacationers. While most of the beaches are not Blue Flag-certified, they are meticulously maintained and maintained. Erdek, which is gaining popularity during the summer months, is recommended to arrive early or book accommodations in advance.

1. Ocaklar Beach

Located very close to Erdek's city center, Ocaklar is one of the region's longest and most popular beaches. Its fine sand and shallow, clear waters make it ideal for families with children. 2. Erdek Central Beach

Located right in front of the city center, this beach is preferred for its ease of access. Its proximity to all the city center's amenities is a significant advantage. The beach is generally sand with occasional small pebbles. It is surrounded by municipal social facilities and public beach areas. Despite its central location, the sea is generally suitable for swimming.

3. Kurbağalıdere Beach (Narlı)

For those seeking a quieter, more natural alternative to Erdek, Kurbağalıdere in the Narlı district is ideal. Located a little further from the city center, this beach is known for its cleaner, clearer waters. Surrounded by olive trees and greenery, it's less densely populated than Ocaklar, offering a more tranquil experience. Access is by private car or minibus.

4. Çuğra Beach

Located on the west side of Erdek, Çuğra is a popular destination for camping and nature vacations. It boasts a wide sandy beach, surrounded by accommodations and campsites. The sea gradually deepens. It can be choppy in windy weather, but offers a pleasant swimming experience on calm days.

• Transportation: You can reach Erdek via Balıkesir or by ferry (IDO) from Istanbul. Transportation between beaches is generally provided by minibuses.
• Sea Water Temperature: The waters of the Sea of Marmara can generally be cooler in the summer months than those of the Aegean and Mediterranean, but reach ideal temperatures in July and August.
• Accommodation: A wide range of accommodation options are available, from boutique hotels to hostels, especially in Ocaklar and the centre.
