Dalaman Beach Guide
Dalaman, Muğla's hidden paradise, stands out not only for its airport but also for its pristine bays and unique beaches. Here are the must-see beaches in this region where the Aegean and Mediterranean meet.
1. Sarigerme Beach (Osmaniye)
Located approximately 15 kilometers from Dalaman city center, Sarıgerme is one of the region's most popular and widest beaches. Its fine, golden sand and shallow, clear waters make it ideal for families with children. Thanks to its sheltered location, the beach is generally windless and calm. The forested area just behind the beach offers a relaxing retreat surrounded by nature. Sarıgerme's cleanliness and tidiness are recognized by the Blue Flag.
2. İztuzu Beach (Caretta Caretta Nest)
While technically located within Ortaca, its proximity to Dalaman makes it a gem of the region. This 4.5-kilometer-long natural beach lies in a unique delta where freshwater meets saltwater. İztuzu's most notable feature is that it is a primary breeding ground for the endangered Loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta). Therefore, the beach is protected and closed to visitors in the evenings. The sea is temperate, and its fine sand makes for a pleasant stroll.
3. Vaccine Bay
For those seeking hidden beauty, Aşı Bay is the perfect destination. Reached by descending a steep road, this bay is one of Dalaman's most pristine and peaceful spots. Boasting a pebble beach, the bay's sea, thanks to the surrounding rocks, is crystal clear and turquoise. With minimal facilities, this area is often frequented by day-trip boats. It boasts an underwater treasure ideal for snorkeling.
4. Kayacık Beach (Dalaman Stream Mouth)
Kayacık Beach, located where the Dalaman River flows into the sea, is a popular spot for locals and campers. It's particularly suitable for water sports like kitesurfing in windy weather. The water can get deep in places and be colder than other beaches due to the influence of the river. The sunsets here are truly impressive.
