Anamur Beach Guide
Anamur, one of Mersin's most pristine spots, is home to some of the Mediterranean's cleanest and longest coastlines. Here are some unique spots to enjoy the sea in Anamur.
What You Need to Know About Anamur Beaches
Anamur beaches are characterized by fine sand mixed with pebbles. The gradually descending waters from shallow to deep make them particularly safe for families with children. The region's natural beauty has been preserved, ensuring the water's clarity throughout the year.
Melleç Beach (Anamur City Beach)
Considered the heart of Anamur, Melleç is the district's longest and most central beach. Its proximity to the city center makes it easy to access. Melleç boasts a wide sandy beach, where you can enjoy both beach facilities and free access to the sea with your own umbrella. The eastern part of the beach is generally quieter.
Pullu Nature Park Beach
It's Anamur's most special spot for those seeking to connect with nature. Finding shade here, where pine trees meet the sea, is easy. Pullu also offers camping opportunities. The beach is more pebbly than others, but the water temperature and clarity are excellent. Facilities are limited, so it's best to come prepared.
Ören Beach
Located very close to the historic Mamure Castle, Ören boasts a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. The coastline is long and regular, making it an ideal spot for watching the sunset. Although Ören is a bit further from the city center, it maintains a lively atmosphere thanks to the small restaurants and cafes in the area. Sea temperatures are generally high.
Anamurium Ancient City Beach
It's one of those rare spots where history and the sea meet. The small, sheltered cove, right next to the ancient city, is often used by locals. Facilities at this beach are minimal, allowing it to preserve its natural beauty. Because the seabed can be rocky and stony, water shoes are recommended.
Important Notes for Beach Visitors
- Caretta Caretta Nests: Anamur beaches are an important sea turtle nesting area. Be careful not to damage the nests, especially in June and July.
- Wind Conditions: The area is generally sheltered from the wind, so wave problems are rarely experienced.
- Cleanliness: Many beaches meet Blue Flag standards. Help keep the environment clean.
